This was one of my most formative experiences in the hospitality industry. You get a task that requires a certain level of experience. There is no one available to help. You try your best but the result is still sub standard and you know it. Yet you still offer the sub-standard product or service, hoping like hell that it doesn’t kill the patron outright.
The worst part? You can never tell them how much effort you went through to help them. Which means no tips.
